Operating Status of BWR Plants

Due to the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station in 2011, the activities of all the nuclear power stations in Japan were halted. After that, the regulations system and standards were revised, and two BWRs have restarted under the new regulation standards.

Lessons from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Accident

In the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, multiple pieces of safety equipment and safety systems lost their ability to function at the same time due to the earthquake and tsunami. In addition, the progression of the severe accident could not be stopped after this. Applying the lessons learned from this accident, we will take measures to improve BWRs.
